I have a (literally) 1 1/2 inch pile of email complaints from one family from last year. They took one child out of the school and left the other. Yesterday...the 2nd complaint of the year came about that child that they left...with the note the school may not be right for her...(after 8 years?)...really makes we want to say "Sorry, see ya!"
On the other hand...a dozen committed parents just provided a wonderful, nurturing, and very enjoyable holiday experience for the whole school...(fyi that's what the complaint was about). They did a huge amount of work, agonized over making each part as perfect as possible, got stuck in a fairly cold, unfinished room in order to provide this this year...and left exhausted and happy and gratified. Now I have to tell the chairs of this event about another complaint...how frustrating.
I have to keep my eyes on the very happy huge majority. We are in the midst of significant change but it always really surprises who it is that gets stuck in the mire and has trouble with whatever the change is!!! We are completing a hugely successful, delightful, exciting building additon and I will not have my joy robbed from me! for those in the know that is a pun.
Pray for me...these are the times I most want to reflect Christ and hide my human heart.
